Honey is particularly popular amongst the female fans due to its beauty care benefits. Honey’s skin care benefits have been proven throughout the centuries. Ancient beauties applied a mixture of honey and milk to the face to keep the skin youthful, radiant, and smooth. Poppea, the wife of Roman Emperor Nero, was the one that used this honey and milk lotion to keep her looking youthful. Cleopatra was also famous for her milk and honey baths.
Honey is an ideal ingredient in many skin care products and it happens for some reasons. Honey has the ability to absorb and retain moisture which can be helpful to keep skin hydrated and fresh, and prevent skin from drying. Its ability to absorb impurities from the pores on the skin makes it an ideal cleansing agent. Honey contains natural antioxidant and anti-microbal properties which can protect the skin from the damaging effects of the sun’s rays and support the skin’s ability to rejuvenate and refresh depleted skin, leaving it feeling silky soft and supple. Honey is an anti-irritant, so it is also suitable for sensitive skin and baby care products. In response to the increasing consumer demand for more natural formulations, manufacturers have included honey in its various products, such as: skin moisturizers, facial masks, hair conditioners and shower gels.
However, you can save money and create spa-like, honey-based beauty products at home. 100 percent pure honey is best for skin, so it can be used in its rawest and most natural state to produce some astounding results. Manuka honey is an excellent ingredient for this purpose. Here are some tips of homemade beauty treatments that utilize honey:
